An intensive Pre-Qualifying process for the 2022/23 Season of IVRA has finally come to a close. Now, the three prestigious championships have an entry list worthy of any league on iRacing, so let’s take a look at some of the teams who have been able to qualify, and those who just missed out.
In the Clubsport Series there are three categories this season, and in the Cup class only two thirds of the entries made it. Three driver teams have become the norm in this series as there are six 700km races this season, up from four last campaign.
One of those teams is ATRS eSports, as they managed to qualify a pair of Porsche Cup cars into the competition, however their third and final one didn’t make it. Another returning team with multiple cars is Orion Race Team, who will be looking to build on their 6th placed championship finish last season.
Among those who didn’t make it were Olympus eSports, the biggest shock of Clubsport Pre-Qualifying. Geekz Energy Simracing were also knocked out and will have six cars on the reserve list for the season across the three classes.
In the Sport class, 13 teams missed out during Pre-Qualifying, the most of any category in the Clubsport Series. Incredibly, the Top 7 from last season’s championship all made it through Pre-Qualifying, with defending champions Fiercely Forward having two entries this time around.
Of nine attempts, only three Aston Martin’s made it through Pre-Qualifying, possibly giving an insight into the competitiveness of that car throughout the season. Other notable teams to miss out here were Archer Brothers Esports and Cowana Gaming.
Finally, in TCR there is a familiar look to the lineup, with Team Heusinkveld returning to defend their title, Full Send Racing sending a pair of Hyundai’s to improve on 4th and 5th last season, and Impulse Racing there too. But there are some new faces, with the arrival of two Brabham Esports TCRs, Ingersoll Rand, who previously competed in the GT Sprint Series, and RSR by Buttkicker. The all-American Hugh Jass TCR missed out, along with some other one nation teams from Spain and Hungary respectively, Big One Club and M1RA Esports.
In the HyperX GT Sprint Series, 35 teams sadly missed the cut. There are some names on the reserve list that are very competitive teams and drivers too. Among them, three Absolute Motorsport cars and Leipert eSports.
After a year’s hiatus, Team Heusinkveld are back to the series they were previously champions of, and RSR by Buttkicker have scaled back to 3 Pro entries from the 4 of last season. Pro/Am will see Valorous Motorsports on the grid with two cars, where Emil Winbo will lead the line to show more of the form that impressed towards the end of last season.
Precision Racing eSports will be ones to watch in Am, as Nick McLaughlin will lead that team to some strong performances at least. Finally, Olympus Esports will complete the set as they have an entry in all three classes of the HyperX GT Sprint Series.
The GSI Endurance Series had its Pre-Qualifying last weekend, and so more information on the entry there is due soon. A preview of the series will also be coming soon, as the IVRA season draws ever closer.
